The IBM Innovation Center/Corporate Community Relations in collaboration with the Calvary Bilingual Multicultural Learning Center will host a Family Technology Day on November 2, 2002 from noon to 4pm. The event will be co-sponsored by Columbia Heights Shaw Family Support Collaborative; Council of State Historical Records Coordinators, Digital Community of Columbia Heights and Shaw; Digital sisters, See Forever Maya Angelou Public Charter School, Howard University CTC, For the Love of Children )FLOC); Empowerment Through Technology and Education and One Economy Corporation.
Representatives from the IBM Innovation Center will demonstrate new state of the art technology featuring a variety of websites and resources that will help families become more aware of the role of technology in their daily lives and the role that it will increasingly play in future.
The IBM Family Technology Day will also address the Digital Divide by highlighting the numerous opportunities for computer training and technology education offered by community based organizations in the District. Many of these organizations will be on hand to present information about their programs and training classes.
Hands-On workshops for children ages 8 and above and adults will include learning how to use software to create digital music, digital photography and computer animation. Families will also be able to visit www. Beehive.com to learn about resume writing, how to prepare a budget, or how to search for an apartment.
